How we collect menus

Sources

Menus come only from the official websites of hotels and hotel restaurants: their HTML menu pages and the PDF menus they publish. We do not copy menus from review sites, reservation platforms, delivery apps or search engines. We respect each website's robots.txt rules and request pages slowly.

What we record

For each menu we record the outlet (restaurant, bar, lounge or in-room dining), menu type, sections, item names, prices and the dietary marks printed on the menu (V, VG, GF). Long dish descriptions are not copied; we write short summaries in our own words.

Publishing rule

A hotel page is published only when we have at least one real menu for it. Hotels without a verified menu stay on an internal waiting list. We never publish empty or invented menus.

Numbers we compute

Averages (breakfast, main course, cocktail), price ranges, price level ($–$$$$), and counts of vegetarian and gluten-free dishes are calculated from the listed items. Wine bottles are excluded from averages so they don't distort typical prices. City comparisons use the same method for every hotel.

Locations and hours

Addresses are checked with the US Census Bureau geocoder. Opening hours come from the hotel's published information; "open now" is calculated in the hotel's local time zone. Maps are shown through Google Maps.

Photos

We use freely licensed photos (for example from Wikimedia Commons) with attribution, or a generated cover when no licensed photo exists. We do not download photos from hotel websites or search engines.

Corrections

Found an outdated price? Use our contact form. Hotels can request removal through the removal request form.
